Fuck The Hard Rock Cafe.
I'm gonna say it because it needs to be said. Fuck the Hard Rock Cafe and everything that has to do with that establishment. There's nothing Hard Rock about it and it's staff and security are a team of pricks.
This post was suppose to be about the Aggrolites and how refreshing it was to watch an L.A. band bring back the roots of soul and reggae, but after a few songs into the show I was asked to leave because I was taking too many pictures and was too close to the stage. Yup, after a 6 hour drive and a paid for ticket I was escorted out of the venue and hungout with the merch guy for the remainder of the show. Which is another thing, who has their bands sell their merch outside in the hallway of a casino?
Don't support the Hard Rock Cafe. Bands don't book your shows there. It's a washed up commercialized idea of what rock n roll is and goes against everything that is DIY.
Support your local small venue. Support your local dive. Don't support a spot that hires a bunch of bonehead security guards to push you around and keep you in your place. There ain't nothing rock n roll about that.
Get the word out. Re-post this, tweet this, do whatever you want. I really don't care if I get banned from this place, I wouldn't wanna be associated with a spot like this anyway.
On with the show...

Okay maybe I was a bit close on this one. Haha...
Getting booted after this picture wasn't all that bad. Like I said, I hung with the merch guy and after getting to know one another he kicked me down with a CD and a few stickers. Cheers to that dude whatever your name is, amigo! I'll be seeing ya on the road again I'm sure.

Party Talk
Party Talk at The Griffin Las Vegas, NV. 12/26/2012
If Bloc Party made-out with Clap Your Hands And Say Yeah, then that's what these dudes sound like.
I chilled with the drummer (Carlos) for a minute and we talked up the music scene here in Vegas. Solid honest dude just getting by and wailing on the drums. So Vegas, if you see this guy, kick him down with a few drum sticks. He has no cell phone.

Trash City...
a tribute to Joe Strummer.
12/22/2012 The Three Clubs, Los Angeles, CA.
I hit The Three Clubs this weekend to say farewell to a friend and also catch a tribute show they were having to celebrate the life of Joe Strummer. I'm up for anything having to do with The Clash, so I didn't even bother looking at who was on the bill or what was going down.
Well, I was in for a surprise...

Face melting...
12/16/2012
Ty Segall melts faces at The Observatory, Santa Ana, CA
First band up, Business Cats from Azuza, CA.
I added these kids on soundcloud because I liked the rawness of their sound. I had no idea they were on this bill, so it was a real pleasant surprise! If these kids aren't going places, I don't know who is.
Next up to bat was Bleached from Los Angeles. You might recognize some of these girls from their former band Mika Miko. They totally killed, but once again I had no idea they were on the bill as well. I should probably start doing my homework on this stuff, but hey, I'm not getting paid for this.

And the main attraction... Ty Segall

Trip out... I found these dudes hanging around the bar minutes before their show. I had a quick chit chat with the bass player about how everything is working out on the road. He was rad enough to stick around until I got my beer. We had a toast, and he was off to shred and I was off to hang around a bunch of sweaty people. Cheers guys!!
